The international code of Argentina is 54 and the one of the city of Buenos Aires is 11.

Commercial hours

Banks and houses of exchange: Monday through Friday from 10 to 15 h.

The shops and businesses: Monday through Friday from 9 to 20 h. In some districts the shops are closed in the afternoon and extending the schedule at night. Saturdays the schedule is from 9 to 13 h.

Shopping centers: from 10 to 22 h every day of the week, even Sundays after the 12 h. During the week ends the food areas are open until one o'clock in the morning and the cinemas have sessions that begin at that hour.

Supermarkets: from 9 to 22 h. The main chains also open Sundays, generally from the 12 h.

Restaurants: The lunch is served from the 13 h and the supper from the 21 h. Many restaurants offer fast meals to all hour.

Modes of payment

The national currency is the peso ($), divided in 100 cents. The bill in circulation are of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 pesos and the coins are of 1 peso, 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents.

Although the dollar is accepted in some commerce, the currency exchange for national currency is made in the banks and authorized agencies. The credit cards of greater acceptance are VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Diners

Airport

The Airport Ezeiza international is at 35 km of the down town area. The time average of the ride is of 40 minutes by a freeway. The local flights take place through the Airfield for light aircrafts Jorge Newbery, located to 4 km of down town.

Transports

Subways: In Buenos Aires 5 lines of subways (called subte by the locals) exists and combinations among them can be done. The payment takes place through cards that cost 90 cents of a peso. The cards can be acquired in the stations, where also there are maps that indicate itineraries and destinations.

Buses: They operate in the city a total of 145 lines. The ticket can cost 90 cents of a peso and it is paid by means of a machine installed in the vehicle, which only accepts coins. They run24 hours a day. This transport, one of the Argentine inventions, is the most used by the local workers.

Taxi: Buenos Aires is filled with taxis, all of black color and with yellow ceiling.

Rent of automobiles: In order to drive in Buenos Aires it is necessary to be of legal age, have a driver's license, and a credit card. The foreigners must present in addition the passport. The prices can vary depending the chosen vehicle and the time. The cost average of the fuel is of $2 by liter.

Customs requirements

It is not necessary visa of entrance for tourists at the customs present the passport or the identity card. In all the cases, the authorized permanence is of up to 90 days.

For permanence in the country by superior terms or with other objectives (business, study, investigation), the corresponding visa in the Argentine Consulates shall be solicited previously.
